PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS
Throughout your IT or management career, professional certifications can give you take employment edge you need, and ETU will be there with the education you need when the time is right. No matter where you are in your career, ETU can help you map your career path and provide the knowledge you need along the way to advance to the top. To help you advance your IT education and your career ETU offers transfer credit in the each of the bachelor's degrees programs for the certifications we offer.

Early in your career certifications can provide evidence of entry-level skills needed in most business. Intermediate and advanced certifications demonstrate your level of competency with particular products. Professional certifications in IT and management may give you the competitive advantage with employers.

Through our educational system, you can earn certifications online and they are self-paced.

HOW IT WORKS
Understanding how adults learn, and it is still the only company to offer a learning methodology based on experience with real students. This experience led to the development of instructional design techniques that set the benchmark for e-learning, including:

    • Hands on exercises, including VLabs for MCSE and Cisco courses.

Once you sign up with an ETU Admission Advisor and pay your access fee, you will receive your login and password. On the site you will be directed to a Getting Started section .

Under your "My Professional Development" section you'll find the courses you are currently taking. At the beginning of the course, you will have the chance to do a baseline assessment to see how your current skill set compares to the requirements of the certification exam. As an authorized course developer for and partner of Microsoft, Cisco, Novell and CompTIA, you can be sure the course content will prepare you for the certification exam.

Each section of your certification course will come with self-evaluations, so you can test you knowledge before sitting for the exam. Your results will be logged for you to view and track, so you can identify areas for further study, or know you are ready to take the exam. Once you have successfully completed each section and all of the assessment you are ready to sit for the exam.

A+CERTIFICATION
The A+ certification is a vendor-neutral certification for entry-level computer technicians. It has no pre-requisites but is widely used as a starting point for various system administration and network administration certifications.

SECURITY+CERTIFICATION
The CompTIA Security+ certification tests the security knowledge mastery of an individual with two tears of on-the-job networking experience, with emphasis on security. The exam covers industry-wide topics, including communication security, infrastructure security, cryptography, access control, authentication, external attack and operational security. It is an entry-level, vendor-neutral certification which makes a great stepping-stone to more advanced certifications. Its also may be used in some Microsoft certifications tracks.

NETWORK+CERTIFICATION
Network+ is an entry-level, vendor-neutral certification for professional with a least nine-months experience in network support or administration. This certification demonstrates technical abilities in networking administration and support, and validates knowledge of media and topologies, protocols and standards, network implementation, and network support. The exam has no prerequisites but CompTIA recommends you posses the A+ certification.

LINUX+ CERTIFICATION
The CopmTIA Linux+ certification is for technicians with six-months experience installing, operating and maintaining Linux operating systems. The Linux+ certification validates technical competency and provides a broad awareness of Linux operating systems. This certification demonstrates critical knowledge of installation, operation, administration and troubleshooting services. It is an entry-level, vendor-neutral certification that makes a good starting point to higher-level certifications. Although there are no prerequisites for this certifications, CompTIA recommends that you posses the A+ and Network+ certifications.

IT PROJECT+CERTIFICATION
CompTIA's it Project+ (2003) certification is meant for those IT professionals who are on their way to becoming skilled project managers. The exam explores the candidate's familiarity of project management tools, such as schedulers, spreadsheets, and databases. The exam also takes on the issue of getting people to make decisions in a timely manner. The IT Project+ certified professional will have to demonstrate a knowledge and awareness of keeping an issues logs and helping people reach decisions. IT Project+ is a mid-level, vendor-neutral certification which is a suitable complement to any technology-focused certification. There are no pre-requisites for this certification, although some project management experience would be beneficial. Like other CompTIA offerings, once a person achieves the IT Project+, the certification will not expire.

MICROSOFT CERTIFIED SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR (MCSA)
Microsoft's Windows 2003 MCSA certifications is for professionals who implement, manage, and troubleshoot existing network and system environments based on the Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Operating Systems. These individuals typically do not deploy new networks and systems as part of their job function, as is expected of individuals holding the MCSE credential. Unlike MCSEs, MCSAs are not expected to have design skills.

MICROSOFT CERTIFIED SYSTEMS ENGINEER (MCSE)
Microsoft's Windows Server 2003 MCSE certification is for professionals who analyze the business requirements and design and implement the infrastructure for business solutions based on the Microsoft Windows 2000 platform and Microsoft Windows Server System.

MICROSOFT CERTIFIED DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR (MCDBA)
Microsoft's MCDBA on Microsoft SQL Server 2000 is an advanced-level certifications for individuals who derive physical database designs, develop logical data models, create physical databases, create data services by using Transact-SQL, manage and maintain databases, configure and manage security, monitor and optimize databases, and install and configure SQL Server.

MICROSOFT CERTIFIED APPLICATION DEVELOPER (MCAD)

CISCO CERTIFIED NETWORK ASSOCIATE (CCNA)
Cisco's CCNA certification is an introductory-level certification that is a prerequisite for higher-level certifications, such as the CCNP and CCDP. The CCNA is designed for IT professionals who can install, configure, and operate LAN, WAN, and dial access services for small networks (100 nodes or fewer), included but not limited to use of these protocols: IP, IGRP, Serial, Frame Relay, IP RIP, VLANs, RIP, Ethernet, Access Lists.

CISCO CERTIFIED NETWORK PROFESIONAL (CCNP)
Cisco's CCNP is an intermediate-level certification for IT professionals who can install, configure, and troubleshoot local and wide area networks for enterprise organizations with networks from 100 to more than 500 nodes. The CCNP certification has as its prerequisite the CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), and covers content such as: security, converged networks, quality of service (QoS), virtual private networks (VPN) and broadband technologies.

  • PROJECT MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE
PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONAL (PMP)
The PMP certification examination measures the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques that are utilized in the practice of project management. Prerequisites are a minimum of 4,500 credits of project management experience and a minimum of 35 contact hors of project management education.
